Grosvenor Square has been one of Mayfair’s most iconic public 
spaces for more than 300 years. As only the fourth redsign in 
its history, the transformation reimagines the garden for modern
London while respecting its historic significance.

History and background

Integration joined the project in 2019, working with Tonkin Liu before being appointed as MEP and environmental design engineers alongside BDP and Grosvenor.

The multi-million-pound transformation has created a more biodiverse urban landscape, with enhanced planting, new habitats and improved spaces for people and nature.

More than 7,000 people contributed to the design process, helping shape a garden that responds to the needs of residents, businesses and visitors.
 

Engineering Approach 

The engineering strategy focused on integrating resilient, sustainable infrastructure within the historic landscape.

New systems support irrigation, drainage, lighting and public facilities, while improved soil conditions allow the garden to absorb up to 1.4 million litres of stormwater. This reduces pressure on London’s drainage network while supporting healthier planting.
 

Our Role 

Integration provided MEP and environmental design services from competition through to completion.
Our team designed the building services for the new education centre and café kiosk, alongside irrigation and drinking water infrastructure supporting the wider garden and its extensive planting strategy.
